Technology in Basketball Sneakers: Past, Present, and Future
The
technology put into basketball sneakers is unlike any other shoes. Basketball shoes used to be very flatfooted
and had no traction on the court. This led to many injuries which damaged
teams. Today basketball sneakers have different technologies that help the
health of players. When they land on the
ground after jumping, their knees take less pressure. When the players cut from
side to side, they now have full traction and rarely slip. The shoes are super light. The players feet
now have no blisters after a hard-fought game.
Their valuable feet are now cushioned by only the best fabrics and cushioning. The shoes have gels in the sole that lowers
the force put on the players legs. This is all because of the health of the
players. They have tons of money
invested into them, so these companies do their best to keep them away from
injury. The fans see Lebron James on the
court wearing the newest Nike sneakers and they want to be just like him on the
court even though they are five foot four.
This leads them to go to their nearest store and buy those $180 sneakers
that cost five dollars to make. Companies like Nike, Adidas, Under Armor, and
many more have taken this route. Decades
ago, when shoe technology was not so great, players were injured much
more. Players would wear Converse
sneakers in NBA games, which today sounds laughable. As these players got older, they began to get
foot, knees, and hip injuries which shortened many of their careers. The new technologies have brought in and made
a great success. The players are safer
when on the court, and the companies are making more money than ever. The shoe industry is at a high, especially
for basketball. The rising in technology
for the shoes has influenced the industry.
The basketball shoes can only get better from this point. In the future, more and more money will be
put into this technology because of all the profit made. There are no limits to this technology. Every
few months, a new shoe that is better than the last comes out to the
public. This will continue to happen for
the generations to come. Hopefully one
day injuries from slipping on the court or from landing too hard on an ankle
will be inexistent. Also, hopefully
technology in the future is mind-blowing.
I hope to one day wear sneakers that I do not even feel on my feet. Maybe they will even make technologies that
will help players get better. They will possibly
make the players jump higher or maybe even make them faster. Motors could be put in the shoes to make this
all happen. They would have to be super
small which would take a lot of time to make perfect, but I hope to see it in
my life. The tech for basketball sneakers can become pretty crazy in
future. The best is yet to come.
